Middle School Art Assignments
Art project assignments will be listed below with the current project at the top. Other classwork such as skill building exercises will be part of your daily participation grade and will not be listed here.
Students will also create a semester long visual journal project. Details were provided in class. We will work on journals weekly and use them to study new media and techniques to use in our larger projects.
Worldbuilding Design Project
Due Wednesday 9/9/2026
You will use references and images to inspire a world or environment that does not exist in real life.
We will work on sketches in class, and I will give you ideas and themes to help you.
Project details:
1. You will complete one environment drawing and one character drawing of a resident of that world.
2. Work must be completed using at least two media.
3. Resources for ideas and worldbuilding will be provided to you.
4. The grading rubric will be reviewed in class.
Drip and Line Design Project
Due Friday 8/21/2026
We will create a drip and line desing inspired by the work of artist Jen Stark.
Project Details
1. We will look at thwe work of artist Jen Stark and her famous drip designs.
2. Students will create their own drip and line design based on Jen Stark artwork
3. You must finish the design in black marker and color is optional but allowed.
4. Line weights must vary from thicker lines to thin lines and shapes.
5. Grading rubric will be provided in class.
Submission Deadline
All projects are due at the end of the class period on the day of the deadline.
